Albert H Hudson was born in 1919 (Mildenhall Q3-1919 4A:1448), son of Herbert and Mabel HUDSON (née MALSTER). At first he was not identified but thanks to Ken Turner from Lakenheath it was found that the family name was at times HODSON. Thus he was eventually tracked down

CWGC have the family at Holywell Row. They were there ( as HUDSON) for the 1939 register, father [27-5-1890] a farm labourer, mother Mabel (Clara) [30-1-1896]. There are 2 closed records


287th Field Company fought in Johore in the closing stages of the Japanese invasion of Malaysia and Singapore. Arriving on the USS Mount Vernon ( peacetime SS Washington) with 53rd Infantry Brigade at Singapore Naval Base on 13th January 1942, 287th Field Company fought in Johore and lost 21 O.Rs killed in action or died of wounds, eight captured and held in Kuala Lumpur's Pudu Jail. During the subsequent fighting on the island, the 287th lost a further five killed.
